Our Q2 edition of the Watering Hole features a handful of stores in Colorado that we recently visited in-person. We feel it’s critical to put boots on the ground on location whenever possible because it truly helps us better understand our clients’ needs. About a month or so ago, we sent a small team to meet with as many stores as we could. Let’s give a shoutout to a few of those stores today, shall we?

It wasn’t all that long ago that Bottlecapps was nothing but an idea on a napkin. We didn’t know what we didn’t know, and certainly didn’t have a long list of liquor stores chomping at the bit to get little ol’ Bottlecapps to build them an app. But there was one store that gave us our first chance, and that store was Argonaut Wine & Liquor. That’s right, not just any store trusted us, but the largest liquor store in Denver and one of the most respected in the country! For that, we are forever grateful 🙏

Another store that gave us a chance and stuck with us through lots of growing-pains is Bubbles Liquor World. Josh Kimsey is a true stalwart in the Colorado liquor landscape and has been loyal to Bottlecapps for nearly a decade. No one is more valuable to us than Josh, and his store is a beautiful example of how to smoothly and efficiently operate a liquor store business in a radically-evolving world.

When Superior Liquor partnered with Bottlecapps in early 2021, we were excited to have such an esteemed store join our ranks. What we didn’t know was how amazing their leadership team was nor how quickly they would rise through the ranks of top stores not only in the Mile-High state, but nationally. We are thrilled that Superior is doing so well and are appreciative that their team took the time to visit with us and for their kind words!

There is a reason we keep mentioning Colorado; due to this state’s overwhelmingly positive and consistent performance, Bottlecapps decided to launch a brand-new contest as a reward for the overall success in the Colorado market. That contest was called Battle of the Bottles…
|
It was quite simple, really. The challenge? Whichever store sold the most total bottles of two particular brands would win a PRIZE. That’s it! We honestly weren’t sure if stores would even be receptive to such a contest, but those concerns were put to rest in a BIG way as it was a resounding success. Colorado sold nearly 4 times as many bottles of the same two brands as the previous month!
So, without further ado, our first ever Battle of the Bottles Champion is . . .

You know, it’s interesting . . . we often ask stores that have left other e-commerce platforms and joined the Bottlecapps family, why they left, and a common theme is one of a profound lack of connection to the people within that company. Truth be told, most tech companies are just that, “tech” companies. The human element is almost non-existent. Time and time again, we hear about how a store was with XYZ Company and almost never talked to a real person.
As cheesy as it sounds, we at Bottlecapps don’t think of ourselves as a tech-first company, but rather, a people-first company that happens to create technology. As it turns out, it’s actually possible to create a great technology platform while also serving the customers for whom the tech was intended! At Bottlecapps, we are real people and we genuinely care about our customers. If a store needs something, we’ll hop on a call and help, no questions asked. This one simple philosophy has separated Bottlecapps from the competition in many more ways than we can explain, but it has also prompted us to take these efforts even a step further, to create a brand new division and team within the company. Customer Experience now serves as an extended resource beyond the typical Sales or Onboarding or Marketing Support that all clients receive, and picks up the on-going communication, training, best practices, and customer feedback from there.
